CLEAN ROOM: REVIEW

I’ve just finished the first trade of Clean Room by Gail Simone, and it seems like it’s going to be THAT comic for me this year. It’s rare for me to be first drawn into a comic by the coloring and lettering, but such was the case with this gem. And, thankfully, all the other aspects proved just as strong — art, writing, characters, and overall concept.

Clean Room follows Chloe Pierce, and through her we have the opportunity to peer deeper into the unsettling events that have recently been surrounding the self-help author turned demi-cult leader, Astrid Mueller.

This comic is hard to read in the best way, and certainly isn’t shy about subverting your expectations again and again. I can’t wait to get caught up to the most recent trade, which just came out this summer. When I do, I’ll be back with a spoiler-FULL review of all my trials and tribulations with the series to date; if the first trade is any indication, I’m in for an interesting ride.
